WASTEWATER

Wastewater Treatment

WWE provides engineering for wastewater treatment process planning, design, and services during construction. We provide design services for conventional and advanced processes for public/municipal, industrial, mining, oil and gas, and food processing categories. Our experience ranges from individual sewage disposal systems to facilities that treat up to 5 million gallons per day.

WWE has specialized services for discharge permitting including nutrient control regulations in Colorado and other states, proposed stringent limits addressing drinking water and fish consumption rates (arsenic and selenium to name two), limits for temperature and E. coli, stringent dissolved metal limits in mining applications, and other site-specific issues.

Water reuse and reclamation is an important aspect of every wastewater project. WWE has extensive experience regarding the planning and design of recycling water. Treatment process experience includes biological, physical, and chemical processes for recycling. We have also incorporated separate graywater systems into our planning for development projects.

Wastewater Collection Systems

WWE has designed and coordinated construction for collection systems for many wastewater clients, including new design and pipeline rehabilitation using pipe bursting, slip-lining, and cure-in-place pipe lining. In addition, for collection system pipelines 24” or greater in diameter, WWE is experienced with preparation of site applications as required by state agencies such as the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and many others.

Pump Stations and Force Mains

WWE’s experience with wastewater pump stations and force mains covers a wide range of capacities and design constraints. We have designed pump stations to serve a single home or commercial building, and to serve a 700 equivalent residential unit (EQR) resort development. Design considerations for pump stations and force mains include redundancy, backup power, floodplain and emergency overflow considerations, wet well sizing, pumping capacity and force main velocity. In addition, WWE is well versed in Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) design criteria and regulations that are applicable for pump stations with capacity of 2,000 gallons per day or more.

Reclamation and Reuse

WWE has been at the forefront of wastewater reclamation and reuse both nationally and in the state of Colorado. Our experience ranges from advanced soil aquifer treatment in the arid southwest to extensive implementation and management of reclamation programs in the Denver Metro area. Our integrated water resources planning approach and water rights expertise favors this practice in many circumstances. WWE has completed comprehensive nonpotable system plans for Colorado entities such as Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority and the City and County of Broomfield.
