Habitat Assessments

Understanding a property’s habitat quality facilitates project planning and permitting decisions. WWE routinely inventories terrestrial and aquatic habitats to help property owners target areas for enhancement, conservation, and development. Addressing these concepts can help projects navigate environmental permitting, and can also lead to more successful projects.

Biological Assessments

Biological assessments are required by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for many projects that have the potential to adversely impact threatened and endangered species. WWE regularly navigates this process for clients and has worked with both terrestrial and aquatic wildlife systems. Because review and approval of these documents is heavily dependent on the reputation of the preparers, WWE often employs our robust network of senior and renowned adjunct scientists for these projects.

Fish Habitat Improvement

Creating and enhancing fish habitat in streams and lakes can add significant recreational and monetary value to a property. These projects are often complex with myriad water supply, water quality, habitat quality, and permitting considerations. WWE has the expertise and experience to develop integrated design strategies that address these challenges. Whether the goal is to develop a half-acre pond for bass or a 5-acre pond and channel complex for trout, WWE has combined sound engineering design and biologic habitat understanding to produce projects with multiple benefits.
