Water Resources ENGINEER – Denver
WWE is seeking an early to mid-level Water Resources Engineer with 2–5 years of professional experience to support water resources projects in our Denver, Colorado office. This role provides the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, develop technical expertise, build project management skills, and grow as part of a collaborative team of engineers and scientists. The ideal candidate will have foundational hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, spatial analysis, and drainage design skills, as well as interest and capacity to expand their skills into new areas such as mud and debris flow modeling, water quality modeling, continuous simulation, stormwater criteria development, and stormwater design, as examples.
Representative Responsibilities
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling with HEC‑HMS and HEC‑RAS (1D/2D). Learn and apply additional H&H methods, programs, and tools as needed (e.g., SWMM, HY‑8, FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox, Mile High Flood District (MHFD) workbooks, etc.).
Support stormwater and drainage studies, including watershed master planning and modeling; floodplain mapping, analysis, and permitting; stormwater criteria development; and drainage system evaluation and design at conceptual, preliminary, and final design stages.
Assist with pre and post‑fire hydrologic hazard analyses, including mud/debris flow and hillslope erosion and sediment transport studies.
Support data collection, analysis, and field investigations as needed.
Assist with preparing technical reports, calculations, exhibits, and design documents.
Work collaboratively with project managers, senior engineers, and clients.
Participate in QA/QC processes and internal technical reviews.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in civil/environmental engineering or a closely related field.
2-5 years of professional experience in water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, or stormwater engineering.
Experience with H&H modeling software, including HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D). Knowledge of other models is desirable, and the ability to learn new models is essential.
Proficiency with common engineering tools (e.g., GIS, Excel, and/or AutoCAD).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
EI certification (PE licensure path expected).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with spatial analysis and statistics (strong preference).
Familiarity with MHFD criteria and manuals.
Experience with local stormwater design standards and permitting in Colorado.

Senior Stormwater Management Specialist – Denver
WWE is seeking a Senior Stormwater Management Specialist with 5 or more years of experience in stormwater management and permitting for construction activities and/or Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s) and a desire to take on more responsibilities for project management, client interactions, and business development. This position will primarily support project delivery for WWE’s stormwater management services, with opportunities to expand into wetland delineation and regulatory compliance services, if desired. Representative Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and manage construction stormwater permitting under the Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS).
Assess proposed projects for potential impacts and determine whether floodplain, wetland, construction stormwater, and/or groundwater dewatering discharge permits may apply.
Collaborate with WWE subject-area experts on permitting requirements, and coordinate and assist with preparation of permit applications and supporting documentation.
Develop Stormwater Management Plans (SWMPs) to effectively address pollution in stormwater runoff and manage the municipal review and resubmittal process for these SWMPs.
Oversee inspections of construction sites and post-construction stormwater control measures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and project requirements. Provide guidance to WWE’s stormwater inspectors, and conduct inspections when conditions warrant.
Support or lead MS4-related permitting and compliance tasks.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding stormwater requirements and compliance strategies.
Serve as staff expert on stormwater regulations and permitting in Colorado and other states where WWE conducts work.
Provide technical oversight, direction, and quality control for junior engineers and scientists supporting permitting and compliance tasks.
Review inspection reports, corrective actions, and compliance documentation.
Assist with permit modifications, enforcement response support, and compliance audits.
Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, and client communication related to stormwater compliance services.
Required Qualifications

WATER RIGHTS Specialist
WWE is seeking a Water Rights Specialist with 2-5 years of experience to support water rights evaluations, due diligence, water rights accounting, water supply planning, and support for preparation of expert reports for water rights adjudications. The selected candidate must have the ability to analyze technical documents, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and work seamlessly with multiple project staff. Key Responsibilities
Perform water rights research, evaluations, and due diligence for surface water and groundwater systems.

Stream Restoration Engineer, Glenwood Springs or Denver
WWE is seeking a Stream Restoration Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support and lead stream and river restoration projects throughout Colorado. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys combining technical design, fieldwork, and collaboration, and who wants to grow their role in restoration-focused water resources engineering under the mentorship of WWE’s practice area leaders.
This role offers the opportunity to apply hydrologic, hydraulic, and design skills to restore a range of stream systems, from natural but degraded mountain streams in western Colorado to highly modified urban streams in the Denver metro area. The engineer will gain both technical and project management skills, with increasing responsibility and independence expected over time.
Representative Responsibilities
Support and develop stream and river restoration designs, including channel grading and alignment, in-stream structures and bank stabilization, floodplain and overbank restoration, and habitat enhancement, including fish passage features.
Assist with geomorphic assessments, field data collection, and construction observations.

Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support restoration design.
