Water Resources Project Engineer
As a Water Resources Project Engineer at Wright Water Engineers, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on innovative and dynamic projects related to stream restoration, floodplain modeling, mud/debris flow analysis, fish passage/barrier design, stormwater design, ditch and diversion structure design, watershed analysis, water quality evaluation, pond design, and more.

The qualified engineer will have experience in design, hydrology, and hydraulics. The candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, one to four years of relevant professional experience, and preferably an Engineer-in-Training (EI) certification. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCAD/Civil3D and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM). A background in GIS, geomorphology, and regulatory floodplain matters is a plus.

Senior Hydrogeologist – Denver
WWE is seeking an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to lead all aspects of the hydrogeological water resources practice, including project and staff management, with particular emphasis on planning, permitting, designing, logging of subsurface materials, construction, testing of groundwater wells, and well development. The position will also support Colorado water rights tasks, including substitute water supply plans, augmentation plans, historical consumptive use analysis, water demand analyses, and lagged depletion analyses. Education and experience should include geology, hydrogeology, geomorphology, and water quality. Some knowledge and experience in groundwater modeling, geotechnical engineering, and contaminant transport and clean-up will be advantageous.
Representative Assignments Include:
Water level and water quality sampling, data compilation, and analysis
Interpretation of water level and water quality data
Technical writing about field activities and observations relative to geologic and hydrogeologic influences on properties and water resources
Formulation and execution of analysis using spreadsheet tools and models, including Glover analysis, drawdown evaluations, lag time computations, and similar.
Well-to-well interference assessments
Support for Colorado water rights assignments related to surface and groundwater
Assessment of existing well performance, development, and rehabilitation
Review and interpretation of geophysical logs and aquifer test information
Alluvial and bedrock aquifer well design and specifications, permitting, construction oversight, and aquifer testing (municipal experience is desirable but not required)
Expert witness testimony
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, civil or environmental engineering, or a closely related field, with emphasis in earth sciences
10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years in consulting
5+ years of water supply well design and construction experience
Ability to market and generate work
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within scope and budget
Ability to research and understand subsurface conditions
Ability to work in the field, coordinate with vendors and contractors, and nimbly respond to project scheduling and coordination
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, regulatory officials, and contractors
Ability to provide clear guidance and mentoring to project staff, including task delegation and technical direction
Excellent written communication skills, including technical memoranda and reports
Ability to perform fieldwork in addition to regular office responsibilities
Knowledge and experience with design and construction of mechanical systems including electrical, hydraulics, pumping, and controls systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, civil or environmental engineering, or a closely related field, with emphasis in earth sciences
Familiarity with Colorado Water Law
Knowledge of Western United States geology, preferably Colorado
Experience with Denver Basin aquifers
Experience with municipal, residential, and irrigation water supply wells
Experience with ArcGIS Pro
Groundwater modeling experience
