Dr. Maestre is a senior water resources engineer with about three decades of experience as project manager and principal researcher in water resources projects that involve the analysis of hydrodynamics and water quality in rivers, estuaries, lakes, coastal waters, wetlands, stormwater systems, levees, and surface water management systems. He was part of a team that evaluated the results from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Water Model (NWM). He has expertise in coupling specialized hydraulic and hydrologic applications with geographic information systems (GIS), statistical tools, and water resources engineering software. Dr. Maestre developed the first version of the National Stormwater Quality Database (NSQD), which describes the characteristics of stormwater quality nationwide, provides guidance for future sampling, and enhances stormwater management activities in areas with limited data.
