Ken
Wright founded Wright Water Engineers in 1961 and serves as the company's
Chief Engineer and Financial Officer. Ken's career has been focused on water
rights, water resources, drainage and water engineering, particularly doing expert testimony,
problem-solving and design related to these fields. He has been proud to
serve a variety of clients ranging from insurance companies, local developers and
municipalities to Exxon, most Colorado ski areas, and, for the last 44
years, the Coors Brewing Company.
Ken
was awarded with the distinction of an Honorary Membership to the
American Society of Civil Engineers in October 2006.
Only 555 individuals have been elected to this distinguished grade
of membership since the society was formed in 1853.
In
1984, Ken's longstanding interest in Paleohydrology came to
fruition when he received an archaeological permit to explore Machu Picchu
from the government of Peru. Wright Paleohydrological Institute, a
non-profit amalgam of expert scientists devoted to studying the
prehistoric use of water, was Ken's brainchild. The Institute has
expanded its studies to Mesa Verde and Barbegal, France, the Peruvian
sites of Tipon and Moray, as well as
continuing work in Machu Picchu.
Ken
is the author of Tipon: Water Engineering Masterpiece of the Inca
Empire, Machu Picchu: A Civil Engineering Marvel and Water
for the Anasazi.
