Beginning in 2004, WWE worked with large national homebuilder Lennar to develop guidance for training related to stormwater quality management and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit compliance.  WWE developed and conducted day-long sessions on topics including the basis and structure of the Clean Water Act, permit requirements, compliance with stormwater permits, potential fines, best management practices (BMPs), inspections/audits, and other topics related land development and the homebuilding industry.  WWE trained more than 2,000 Lennar employees over a 1-year period.

The training that WWE helped to develop formed the basis of the stormwater management portion of the Lennar Environmental Management System (LEMS). Following training, WWE assisted Lennar with stormwater management plan (SWMP) development, site inspections, corrective actions, and responses to enforcement at multiple sites in Colorado and the Mountain West.

In 2017, WWE began working for Lennar Multifamily Communities (LMC), a subsidiary of Lennar involved in developing multifamily projects throughout the United States. WWE assisted LMC with developing an Environmental Management System (EMS) tailored specifically to multifamily development projects. WWE and LMC drew on the content from the LEMS and worked to develop a streamlined, easy-to-understand process for evaluating and implementing environmental compliance on multifamily construction projects. WWE continues to support LMC with implementation of the EMS, site audits, updates to permit requirements, and other tasks.
